BATES CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The body of a missing Overland Park man has been found near the Kansas state line, about 40 miles south of Overland Park.

David Lee Dotson, 66, went missing from his home last Thursday morning. A Silver Alert was issued for Dotson after he left his home and didn't return.

Authorities said Dotson's body was found Wednesday in a Red 2004 Toyota Highlander near Route J, east of Route Y near Amsterdam, MO, in Bates County.

The last time Claire Dotson saw her husband was at their Overland Park home. He fixed her breakfast and a sack lunch, like he did every day. But when she returned home from work, he was gone.

Police said Dotson apparently died from natural causes. His family said Dotson was an insulin-dependent diabetic.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Drug and Crime Control unit handled the investigation.
