From Missouri Education Commissioner Chris Nicastro's office:

The Kansas City School District met five of 14 standards on their Annual Performance Report. Full accreditation requires at least nine standards and provisional accreditation starts at seven standards. As a result, the Missouri State Board of Education will not consider Kansas City for a change in their accreditation classification this year. The Department will continue to urge legislators to remove the two-year waiting period for the state to take action in an unaccredited district.

Kansas City's MAP scores did improve on Math Grades 3-5 and 6-8; Communication Arts Grades 6-8; and the Algebra 1 Math End of Course exam. However, their performance dipped slightly on Communication Arts Grades 3-5 and dropped dramatically on English II Communication Arts. KC also improved its graduation rate from 57.3% in 2011 to 64.3% in 2012.
