Tenants from Holyoke's Lyman Terrace housing project are filing a lawsuit against the city of Holyoke and the Holyoke Housing Authority.
For months, Holyoke's housing authority has discussed demolishing the decades-old units in the city's downtown, citing disrepair.
Tenants have spoken out against the decision.
The suit has been filed with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, in the hopes that they will stop the planned demolition.
The suit claims that the tenants, who are mostly Hispanic, are being discriminated against.
In a release sent to CBS 3, a lawyer for the tenants said, "We are absolutely not accusing the mayor or anyone in city government of racism or bigotry."
