OLATHE, KS (KCTV) -
Police said a toddler was conscious and breathing after falling from an apartment window Wednesday.
At 11:51 a.m., the Olathe Fire Department, along with Johnson County MedAct responded to a reported injured person who suffered a long fall. When firefighters arrived, they found a child had fallen from a third-story screened window.
The 3-year-old boy was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital where he is expected to recover.
The toddler fell from a window at the Bristol Pointe Apartments, located on North Somerset Terrace, just west of Mur-Len Road.
The Olathe Fire Department Battalion Chief said in a release that apparently, the child leaned on the screen of an open window and fell.
Olathe firefighters would like to remind parents with young children to keep windows closed and to lock or install window guards to prevent falls.
