Bank of America in Independence robbed

INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Authorities said Monday morning that a Bank of America in Independence was robbed.

A white man in his late 50s, early 60s carrying a pistol robbed the bank at 9:07 a.m., according to authorities. The man was wearing a bandana over his face and sunglasses. He had gray hair.

The bank is at 17410 E. Highway 24 in north Independence. Five employees and one customer were inside the bank at the time. The robber demanded money from the three tellers.

No one was hurt. The man left the scene traveling north.

Theresa Wright was headed into the bank when the robbery occurred. She was grateful that no one was hurt and said the experience was frightening.
