Ambulance involved in wreck that closes section of I-70

INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Officials said an ambulance was involved in a wreck Friday afternoon that has traffic backed up along Interstate 70.

I-70 westbound past Noland Road is currently closed while crews are on the scene, and chopper video shows major delays on eastbound I-70. Officials recommend taking an alternate route.

Two vehicles were involved in the wreck. One is an AMR ambulance that was seen on its side in the grass. The other is a black four-door vehicle.

There is no word at this time on injuries or if the ambulance had a patient on board. KCTV5 has calls into AMR, the ambulance provider.
