Lisa Holbrook - KCTV5

Lisa Holbrook

Lisa Holbrook returns to Kansas City after working at KWGN-TV in Denver as a sports anchor/reporter.

From 1995 to 2005, she worked in Kansas City as a news and sports anchor/reporter/producer. She covered the Chiefs, Royals, all of the area college teams and every sporting event to come along. Remember the Attack and the Blades??

Lisa was afflicted with March Madness every spring, hitting the road and covering two Final Fours along the way. Her favorite part of covering sports was getting to know many of the legends in this great sports town.

Lisa's career in broadcasting spans three time zones. She has made stops in Washington D.C., North Carolina, West Virginia and Syracuse, NY, before landing in Kansas City.  Her highlights in news include traveling to Miami to cover the ValuJet crash, the one-year anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, a federal police corruption trial in West Virginia, hauling a video camera around the tobacco fields of North Carolina and giving Jay Leno a ride to a convenience store. She has won awards for spot news and feature reporting, including an Emmy in 1996 for the arrest and shooting of a Nazi war criminal in Kansas City, KS.

Lisa graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in Journalism. (Yes, she hates the "The" too!) She interned at Ohio Public Radio, WCOL-Radio and WSYX-TV while living in Columbus.

Lisa has volunteered with the Shepard Center in KC and the Kansas City Pet Project, formerly the KCMO animal shelter. Still an avid sports fan, Lisa lives in Kansas City with her husband and 2 rescue dogs: Lola and Mickey.
