OVERLAND PARK, KS (KCTV) -
Police had to play crowd control after a large group of people, gathering early at Oak Park Mall, became unruly.
Overland Park police said, shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday, they received a call from the mall's security that a large crowd was gathering for a shoe release taking place later in the day at the mall.
Well over 150 people gathered and tried to rush the mall to be the first in line for the shoe release. Police said the crowd got out of control and they were called in to restore order and make sure nobody got hurt.
Oak Park Mall ultimately had its shoe release at 8 a.m. and no injuries were reported.
Police said one person was arrested for trespassing.
