ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Police are investigating after a pizza delivery man was involved in a shooting.

Papa John's employee Javares Scott told police he was on his way to deliver a pizza in Northwest Atlanta on Holly Road just before midnight.

Scott said he was robbed by a person whom he later shot in the abdomen and right thigh.

Scott told police that he took the suspect's gun away from him and shot him.

He returned to the Papa John's store and told the manager about the robbery. According to reports, he went home without calling the police.

Officers spoke with Mr. Scott, who was unable to pick the alleged robber out of a photo lineup.

Police later identified Paul Hammonds who said he was walking down Holly Street when a man jumped out of the bushes and shot him for no reason.

Hammonds was taken to Grady Hospital where he was taken right to surgery for his injuries.

Another person that was questioned in this incident, Ahmad Eli Thomas was charged with false representation to police as he gave the wrong date of birth to officers when asked.

Police are still investigating this incident.
