KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Police are looking for two suspects after a driver of an ice cream truck was shot during a robbery in Kansas City.
Police said the victim, who was robbed at gunpoint in the 2200 block of Lexington Avenue, was shot in the leg about 2:30 p.m. Monday. The victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening.
When police arrived, they made contact with the victim, the driver of a Frosty Treats Ice Cream truck.
The driver told police he was flagged down by the suspects in a maroon vehicle, telling him that they wanted ice cream. The driver of the ice cream truck pulled over, and one of the suspects ran up to the driver's side of the ice cream truck and pointed a gun.
The victim told police that the gunman said, "Give me everything you have." The suspect also demanded the victim's cellphone. Police said when the victim was slow in handing over the phone, the suspect shot him in the leg.
A second suspect opened the passenger side door of the ice cream truck, and reached in for the money and went through his pockets taking his cellphone. Police said a money jar was on a shelf on the passenger side door and was pulled down with a few pieces of change in the bottom.
The suspects then got back in their car and drove east on Lexington Avenue.
A witness, who was inside her apartment at the time, was looking out the window when she saw the gunman and then heard a shot.
