Because of the issues continuing with the Kansas motor vehicle offices, both the Olathe and Wichita offices are adding Monday hours.
The offices will be open on Mondays from 8 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. through Aug. 27. The Olathe DMV office is inside the Great Mall of the Great Plains off Interstate 35.
Kansas residents have encountered unusually long wait times after the state got a new computer system to handle its title and registration process.
Officials hope the extended hours alleviate some of the problems. The state switched to longer four-day workdays in 1984.
The state is also allowing you to "grab a ticket" using your smartphone. Instead of going to the office and grabbing a ticket to secure your place in line, you can text your DMV office.
In Johnson County, text Olathe DL or Mission DL to 714-333-1234 to get your number and receive updates on where you stand in line. Residents using the Topeka and Wichita offices can also use this system.
