KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

One person is dead and multiple people are in the hospital after three overnight shootings in the Kansas City area.

Two people are in the hospital after an overnight shooting. Police said both victims are recovering after suffering unknown injuries during the shooting.

The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. Saturday near Research Medical Center, at the intersection of Meyer Boulevard and Prospect Avenue.

A woman is in serious condition after being struck by a stray bullet in a separate incident just before 2 a.m. Saturday on the city's east side.

Police said a woman in her 40s was driving on Interstate 435 and exiting on East 63rd Street when a bullet shattered her windshield. The bullet struck her in the chest. Officers said the woman was able to stop her car near Manchester Avenue, just east of I-435.

Police are still trying to determine where the gunshot came from, but a witness told police they saw people in two cars exchanging gunfire nearby.

In a third incident, police were called to a home in the area of 30th Street and Oakley Avenue in regard to a shooting about 3 a.m. When officers arrived, they found two victims, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl.

Both teens were transported to a local hospital where the boy was pronounced dead. The girl is in critical condition, but officials said she's expected to live. The boy was identified as Tony L. Hughes.

A witness told officers the victims were on the porch when someone in a red passenger car drove by and shot them.

No arrests have been made in any of the incidents and anyone with information is urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
