GRANDVIEW, MO (KCTV) -
Jackson County prosecutors say a man kidnapped, raped, sodomized, robbed and repeatedly beat a woman over a nine-day period.
Dominique R. Harlin, who just turned 23 years old, faces six felony counts, including rape, kidnapping and sodomy. Court documents show Harlin has a history of being accused of violent allegations and prosecutors said he has violent tendencies.
A warrant was issued for Harlin's arrest in April
A judge set a cash only bond at $250,000 and ordered Harlin to have no contact with the 32-year-old victim.
Prosecutors laid out their case against Harlin in court documents filed Friday. The court documents detail horrific torture that prosecutors say Harlin's victim endured over multiple cities in the Kansas City area.
Doctors said the woman suffered broken bones, ligature marks and other injuries after she was strangled and numerous cuts and bruises, according to court records. The woman allegedly had tape burns.
The man allegedly confessed to beating the woman and tying her up with duct tape, telling authorities that he became angry at the woman because he was jealous after she received phone calls and texts from other men. But he denied forcing her to have sexual relations against her will.
The woman's ordeal reportedly began on June 27. While the two were driving, Harlin began to beat the woman. He forced her into the trunk and locked her there. He took her to Longview Lake where he continued to beat her, according to court documents.
"At this time, Harlin had his 1-year-old daughter in the back seat of the vehicle, and Harlin was telling her to close her eyes and not watch," according to court documents. "Harlin got the victim out of the car and began striking her in the head with a closed fist. And he stated, 'I'm going to kill you and leave you in a ditch.'"
He forced her to remove $300 from her bank account at an ATM. He then allegedly took her to a Northland hotel where he held her against her will, according to court documents. He allegedly tied her up with duct tape and repeatedly physically and sexually assaulted her, according to prosecutors.
After two days, he took the woman to her Grandview home, and kept her there. The woman said Harlin forced himself on her while her young daughter was also in the residence, according to court documents. The woman said she was forced to remain inside her home until July 4 when she was allowed to go to her job at a Raytown nursing home.
Harlin threatened to harm the woman and her children if she reported the violence, according to prosecutors. The woman claimed she was injured in a car crash. Harlin earlier had called her work to say she couldn't come in because she had been in a wreck. He also told the woman's mother and daughter she had been in a wreck "in order to keep the victim confined to the home and subject to abuse," according to court documents.
After she returned home from work, she said Harlin began to attack her again, according to court documents. He struck her with a remote control, splitting her head open. He choked her and kicked her and repeatedly pummeled her with cans of soda. Prosecutors say he forced the woman to give him oral sex even though her jaw had been injured by his attacks.
On July 5, the woman told her supervisor, who called the authorities and got the woman to a hospital in Lee's Summit, according to court documents.
