KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

An Odessa man has been charged in a Kansas City murder first-degree and forcible rape case that occurred more than 20 years ago, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced Friday.

Guy Shannon, Jr., 44, faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of forcible rape charges.

According to court records, the victim's body was found partially clothed at 1414 E. 14th Street on March 30, 1989. The cause of death was determined to be strangulation. Vaginal and rectal swabs were taken from the victim. A "hit" was obtained when Shannon's DNA in CODIS matched the DNA profile taken from the victim. The expected frequency of this profile is one in 10 quadrillion unrelated individuals.

Shannon's bond has been set at $350,000 bond.
