EASTERN JACKSON COUNTY, MO (KCTV) -

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a foot was found along the Little Blue Trace Trail.

Officials say the shoe the human foot was found in was a men's size 13 black leather Nike shoe. There were also two socks in the shoe. Fisherman in the Little Blue River spotted the foot off the trail.

The foot found in the shoe at Blue Mills and Courtney Atherton Road on Tuesday has been shipped to the Kansas City crime lab for an autopsy.

Last week, kayakers found a hand and a forearm in the Little Blue river about a mile from where the foot was found.

That hand has been shipped off to the University of Texas for an autopsy. Authorities are not commenting on any possible connection between the body parts.

Investigators have also had several phone calls from people calling in asking if it is their loved one.

Anyone with a missing loved one, or anyone who sees something suspicious on the river, is asked to call the TIPS Hotline 816-474-TIPS.
