KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Some Kansas City families are taking on an extra kid for the summer.
Let Thursday night, seven orphaned children from the Ukraine and Latvia arrived at the KCI airport. They were met with welcome signs, gifts, and some very excited families.
"Well I tell you, it is truly a high I think for this side, for the host parents as far as the excitement. They have been praying for this child for the past two, three months, since they'd been matched with them. They have been anticipating this big day for a long, long time," Paula Chaffin, the director of New Horizons for Children, said.
The group that arrived at KCI is among almost 200 orphans who will be spending much of the summer with families in the U.S.
