Where can I see fireworks in my neighborhood?


Here is a list of fireworks, festivals and other Independence Day events in cities across the metro area.

KC Riverfest

KC Riverfest is the premiere Independence Day celebration in the region. Located on the Missouri Riverfront at beautiful Berkley Riverfront Park, KC Riverfest is a celebration of our culture, heritage and country.

Where: Berkley Park on the River between the Heart of America and Paseo bridges.

When: Ongoing events July 4 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Tickets are only $5, children 12 and under are free

Jackson County Fourth of July Celebration

Bring your family out to Longview Lake for sparks in the park for many activities including a water balloon contest, carnival games and seeing Skydive Kansas City drop in to salute our veterans. Enjoy summer foods, huge fireworks and Nashville country rock group, Blackjack Billy.

Where: Longview Lake Beach (No pets, grills or coolers please)

When: Friday, July 4. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. A free concert at 6:30 p.m. and fireworks about 9:30 p.m.

Parkville Fourth of July Fireworks and Festival

Historic Downtown Parkville kicks off on Wednesday, July 2 when the carnival opens in the parking lot at the south end of Main Street. In addition to the carnival, this fun, family-style celebration includes a community parade, a pancake breakfast, a variety of food vendors, and, of course, a big firework finale on July 4. Come early and bring the family for a weekend of good, old-fashioned Americana in Historic Downtown Parkville.

When: Firework display on Friday, July 4, at 9:45 p.m.

Corporate Woods Star Spangled Spectacular

Each year thousands of people attend the StarSpangled Spectacular at Corporate Woods in Overland Park. The largest fireworks display in the Kansas City metro offer free parking, music, activities for the children, and plenty of grass space for blankets and lawn.

Where: Corporate Woods, Interstate 435 and College Boulevard at 109th/Mastin.

When: Friday, July 4; activities start at 4 p.m. Fireworks start at approximately 9:40 p.m.

Rain Date: Friday, July 5. There will not be vendors or other activities, but the fireworks will go on at the same time and place.

Independence Fireworks Display at the Mormon Visitor Center

Celebrate July 4 by enjoying patriotic music by the Spirit of Independence Band before and during the annual fireworks display starting at 9:30 p.m. Bring blankets or lawn chairs for the lawn viewing area. No personal fireworks, pets or alcohol are allowed, but families may bring food and beverages. Portable toilets and trash bins will be provided.

Where: Mormon Visitor Center (big spire), 937 W. Walnut, Independence, MO.

Worlds of Fun

Worlds of Fun has one of the longest standing Fourth of July celebrations in the metro. Watch fireworks from within the park or by parking on the east side of I-435 (not recommended).

When: July 4 and July 5 at 10 p.m.

Please Note: On July 4, Worlds of Fun Avenue will be closed from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. The pickup and drop off area will be moved to Oceans of Fun's parking area and will be accessible to guests of both parks.

Smithville Marina Fireworks Display

Smithville Marina holds its annual festivities with a huge display shot off the north end of the Smithville Dam. View at the marina, by boat, or at the Smith's Fork Park.

Where: Smithville Lake, Smithville, MO. Smith Fork Park is located at 1601 DD Hwy.

When: An all-day event on Friday, July 4. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Gladstone Fireworks

Join the City Council for the annual Independence Day Celebration including a patriotic concert by the North Star Community Band and a fireworks display at dusk.

Where: Oak Grove Park, 76th and North Troost

Blue Springs Fireworks

The city of Blue Springs proudly presents the annual fireworks program at Peve Stadium. Come watch a professional fireworks display along with live entertainment. This is a fun and safe way to enjoy the holiday.

Where: Peve Stadium, 2000 NW Ashton Dr.

When: Friday, July 4. Gates open at 6 p.m. Live entertainment starts at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Liberty 4th Fest 

Come enjoy the annual fireworks display at the Liberty 4th Fest. The day's events will conclude at Greene Stadium at William Jewell College.

Where: Liberty, MO - Greene Stadium at William Jewell College

When: Friday, July 4. Gates will open at 8 p.m. for a patriotic concert by the Liberty Summer Band starting at 9 p.m. A fireworks display will begin at 9:45 p.m.

Raymore Fireworks 

Join us in Recreation Park on July 4 for Raymore's 2013 Spirit of America Celebration, which features one of the biggest fireworks displays in the area at dusk. The event begins at 4 p.m. and includes live music, a classic car show, and other fun events before the fireworks begin.

Where: Platte County High School R-3 High School, Platte City, MO

When: Fireworks will be on July 4 at 9:45 p.m.

Legacy Blast Fireworks Extravaganza at Legacy Park

Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation and the city of Lee's Summit invite you to a free fireworks extravaganza at Legacy Park in Lee's Summit. The amazing display will be choreographed to music and simulcast on 94.9 KCMO. Food vendors, local entertainers and inflatables will be on-site at each venue before the fireworks show. Bring the family and blankets for fun under the stars.

Where: Legacy Park (1200 Legacy Park Drive, Lee's Summit, MO)

When: Thursday July 3, gates open at 6 p.m.

Cities of Fairway, Westwood, Roeland Park, Mission Woods and Westwood Hills

The partnership between these Northeast Johnson County cities provides a unique fireworks display for the community. With Independence Day falling in the middle of the week, the event is scheduled for July 3.

Where: Bishop Miege High School, 5041 Reinhardt Dr., Roeland Park, KS

When: Thursday, July 3 at 9:30 p.m.

Parking is available at Bishop Miege High School or St. Agnes Parish.

Lenexa Community Days Parade

The annual Lenexa Community Days Parade is a hometown tradition that draws thousands of spectators to Old Town Lenexa to celebrate Independence Day. The 2013 Community Days Parade will be held on July 4. This year's parade theme is "Celebrate Lenexa Spirit."

Leawood Fourth of July Celebration

The city of Leawood is proud of the excitement and tradition that the annual Fourth of July Celebration brings to the community. Leawood City Park will be the site for a variety of new and traditional family festivities. Enjoy some great entertainment, participate in games and enjoy a variety of food vendors.

When: Activities begin at 5 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Musical entertainment by Flashback from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Fireworks start at 9:45 p.m.

Free general admission

All access ride/activity bands (for children 14 and under) - $5

City Park will be closed to all vehicles on July 4. Free shuttle buses will be running from the parking lots along Tomahawk Creek Parkway to City Park starting at 10 a.m.

Fireworks and Salute to the Union: Ft. Leavenworth

Celebrate the Fourth of July in Fort Leavenworth

Where: Merritt Lake

When: Events begin 4 p.m. with food, beverages, and activities for kids. Live music by the FRISK classic rock band begins at 7 p.m., Salute the Union at 8:30 p.m., followed by fireworks.

Children 16 years and older will need a valid photo ID to enter Fort Leavenworth

Olathe, KS

Come enjoy fireworks in a safe way.

Where: Great Mall of the Great Plains

When:  July 4, fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Booms & Blooms Festival at Powell Gardens

July brings a blaze of color to Powell Gardens during the biggest one-day festival of the summer at Kansas City's botanical garden. Booms & Blooms is set for July 3, with festivities taking place throughout the day and concluding with a dramatic fireworks display ending the evening.

Where: Kansas City Botanical Garden

When: Events throughout the day on July 3, fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.

Admission: Festival admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for children ages 5-12 and includes parking and all-day access to the trolley and Heartland Harvest Garden tram.

Kansas City, KS

Where: There will be a professional fireworks display at Pierson Park

When: Fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m. on July 3.

There will also be post-game fireworks displays at the Community America Ballpark after the T-Bones games on both July 3 and July 4.

Higginsville's Family Fun & Fireworks Festivities

The Bucket Band, local to Lafayette County, will kick off the event followed by Nashville recording artist Two Way Crossing about 7 p.m. Free youth activities, and concession are available for purchase.

Where: Fairground Park

When: The fun begins at 5 p.m. on July 6 with fireworks at dusk.
