KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Wall That Heals, the traveling half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., is coming to North Kansas City on June 28 through July 1.

It will be free and open to the public 24 hours a day and will rest on the North Kansas City High School football stadium, located at 620 E, 23rd Avenue.

Tuesday at 1 p.m., The Wall arrived in Lathrop, MO, where people waving flags greeted it. Following that, 250 to 300 motorcyclists from the Patriot Guard Riders escorted The Wall to its temporary home at NKC High School.

The public is invited to "Come touch The Wall." However, unlike the true memorial in Washington, D.C., the traveling Wall is not conducive to rubbing or stenciling names. One may request a name rubbing be sent to them at the information booth or online at vvmf.org.

There are morning and evening ceremonies leading up to a 2 p.m. closing ceremony on Sunday, July 1.

An opening Awaking Ceremony will be held at 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 28. The evening Remembrance Ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m. on June 28, 29 and 30. The closing ceremony on July 1 will be emceed by KCTV5's Karen Fuller.
