David McGill
PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -
Prescott Valley police arrested a man on suspicion of domestic violence early Monday morning after he became angry because his girlfriend texted her ex-husband about their children.
David McGill, 46, of Prescott Valley, allegedly shoved his girlfriend and strangled her as many as five times, Prescott Valley police said. The 43-year-old victim told police she was afraid she would die.
Police said McGill forced his girlfriend to remain in their home and ordered her to go to sleep. The victim told McGill she was getting up to use the restroom, but exited the house and screamed for help.
The victim told police McGill covered her mouth and pulled her back into the home by her neck, according to police. During the struggle, McGill's girlfriend fought back and he received minor injuries, police said.
A neighbor heard the woman's scream and called for help, police said.
In an interview with McGill, his statements matched what the victim reported and expressed remorse, police said.
McGill was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on one count of aggravated assault, one count of kidnapping and one count of unlawful imprisonment.
