Felony charges were filed Saturday against a Kansas City man and a woman who robbed two people Friday afternoon who stopped to help the woman with a stalled car, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced.

Eric O. Brandon, 20, and Susana M. Pinon, 20, faced charges of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action related to the incident near 7th Street and Brighton Avenue.

According to court records, victims reported the armed robbery Friday afternoon. They had stopped to help two women, one of whom was Pinon, with a vehicle parked along the road with its hood up. The women said they needed a jump start. While the victims helped, Brandon and another came forward with guns, demanding money. One victim gave $2,500 from his pocket and another $300 from his vehicle's visor.

The second victim reported being struck in the face by Brandon with the grip of the gun.

Police later located the suspects nearby, based on a tip while conducting surveillance.

Pinon is being held on a $50,000 bond and Brandon's bond is set at $75,000.
