An argument in Kansas City left one man recovering from his injuries Friday night.
Officers were called to 24th Street and Hardesty Avenue around 8:30 p.m. in response to a disturbance between two men.
Police said the two men were fighting on the corner outside of a convenience store. Witnesses said one man had a 2x4 and the other had an ax, striking the man in the head with the ax. The man with the ax then fled the scene.
The doctor who looked over the victim said his injury did not appear to come from getting hit in the head with an ax, but couldn't confirm what he believes caused it.
Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from an injury to his head.
"We're still talking to witnesses, obviously trying to get more information from the victim," Capt. Todd Paulson said Friday.
The man was taken to a local hospital where he was talking, but initially listed in critical condition. Saturday, police said the victim received 13 stitches and went home.
Police still have not found the suspect.
