PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Portland's World Naked Bike Ride rolled jubilantly through the streets of the city Saturday night.
A year ago, an estimated 8,000 naked bike riders turned out for the event.
Organizers said the ride highlights the vulnerability of cyclists everywhere and "decries society's dependence on pollution-based transport."
Portland police said there was a permit granted for the event. They asked riders to at least wear a helmet and shoes in order to avoid injuries. They also recommended using bike lights.
The ride started at Southeast Water Avenue and Salmon Street at 10:00 p.m. Riders took over streets in southeast and southwest Portland, including the neighborhoods of Richmond, Sunnyside, Laurelhurst, Hosford-Abernathy, Gulch-Kerns, Buckman and downtown.
