Three Kansas City-area soldiers were seriously injured Wednesday during a training accident that happened at Fort Leonard Wood in Pulaski County, MO.

Tammy Spicer, spokeswoman for the Missouri National Guard, said the soldiers injured were part of the 135th Signal Company of the Missouri National Guard, which is based in Kansas City, MO.

Spicer said the soldiers were injured while operating a tactical antenna set Wednesday afternoon. The soldiers were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries suffered when they were shocked.

Two of the soldiers are now being treated at a Springfield, MO, area hospital, while the third soldier is receiving treatment at the military installation's hospital.

Spicer stressed that all family members of the soldiers that were injured have been notified.

The names of the soldiers involved have not been released.

Fort Leonard Wood is four hours southeast of the Kansas City area.
