In his first at-bat Sunday, Derek Jeter passed George Brett on the all-time hits list.
With a single to left field off Tom Milone to open Sunday's game against the Oakland Athletics, Yankees shortstop Jeter recorded his 3,155th hit in 18 seasons.
Jeter moved to 14th place on the MLB's all-time hits list, passing Kansas City Royals' Hall of Famer George Brett with 3,154 career hits.
Jeter is now in sole possession of 14th place on the all-time hits list.
Brett compiled his hit total in 21 seasons from 1973 to 1993.
Jeter now faces Cal Ripken at 3,184 hits, then Nap Lajoie at 3,242.
