Car trouble may have caused fatal accident in Belchertown

BELCHERTOWN, MA (WSHM) -

Car problems may have played a role in a fatal accident in Belchertown last week.

According to the Hampshire Gazette, a friend of Ashley Goetz says he talked to her minutes before the crash.

He said she called because her car broke down.

But then she said someone stopped to help her and she was back on the road again.

Goetz of Amherst was killed when she hit a utility pole on Route 202 last Monday night

She was a grad student at UMass and originally from Minnesota.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
