KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
A man is dead after he tried to break up a fight that started because someone failed to apologize for bumping into another man.
Inside a club off McGee Street near Truman Road in downtown Kansas City, one patron bumped into another but failed to say, "Excuse me."
A fight then broke out and spilled outside.
Police say Marcus Heilderberg, 23, stepped in to break up the fight. Someone pulled a gun and fatally shot him.
Now police are asking for the public's help. Detectives are frustrated because despite the crowd and surveillance video, tips aren't coming in.
"So far we've received exactly zero tips to the TIPS Hotline and it was a public place," said police Capt. Steve Young."We know other people were there. And to not have anybody come forward and provide information is sad. This guy died."
Police are asking anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS. A name is not required and a cash reward can be received for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
