Man hit by car for second time

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

David McClain, 29, is fighting for his life after a hit and run on 33rd Street Tuesday, May 8.

"One of the young men that was down the block came knocking on my door. I thought he said my dog got hit because I have a dog in the yard, but he said your son David got hit by a car and the car ran off," McClain's mother Marsha Pinckney said.

Pinckney says when she went outside, she found her son in a puddle of blood. The car ran over his head.

"We went to the hospital to visit him last night and he could not rest at all. He was in so much pain. They had to give him morphine in order for him to go to sleep," Pinckney said.

Pinckney says her son has come out of a coma, but has brain damage and will have to learn to do everything all over again.

This is the second time this family has been through this kind of situation.

McClain nearly died when he was six years old when he was hit by a car.

"We went through this before and we shouldn't be going through this again. The first time it was an accident because the person showed remorse. But this time it seems like the person meant to hit him and left him there to die," Pinckney said.

Pinckney says there is a lot of talk in the neighborhood about who did it, but no one is brave enough to go on the record with police.

"I pray their conscience eats them up so they will tell the truth," she says.

Police are looking for anyone who may have seen something. They believe the car was a dark sedan with three or four men inside.
