Dozens without power after transformer fire in Shawnee

SHAWNEE, KS (KCTV) -

A transformer fire is likely to blame for some power outages in Shawnee.

Witnesses heard a boom and the power then went out near Nieman Road and West 61st Place.

Firefighters in Johnson County say a transformer caught fire and it spread to a utility pole. About 39 customers were without electricity.

KCP&L crews have been working through the night to get everyone back online.
