Portion of Shawnee Mission Parkway temporarily closed due to gas leak

FAIRWAY, KS (KCTV) -

An area on Shawnee Mission Parkway was temporarily closed due to a gas leak Thursday.

A private contractor working at Shawnee Mission Parkway and Mission Road accidentally cut through a natural gas line on the southwest corner of the intersection about 11:30 a.m.

The size of the line and its proximity to the intersection meant officials had to close all traffic through the intersection while utilities crews worked to shut off the main and begin repairs.

Fairway police said the intersection was opened to traffic about 1:10 p.m. and no injuries were reported.
