Deputy sheriff struck by pickup truck in Southwick

SOUTHWICK, MA (WSHM) -

A deputy sheriff continues to recover after being hit by a pickup truck on Wednesday.

The deputy with the Hampden County Sheriff's Department was working a road detail along College Highway in Southwick when he was struck just before noon.

He was taken to Baystate Medical Center with minor injuries.

Law enforcement is urging the public to put down their phones and focus on the road when you're driving through a construction zone.
