WICHITA, KS (KCTV) -
A man in Wichita is proving an old saying that it is easier to be struck by lightning than to win the lottery.
Bill Isles bought three Mega Millions tickets Thursday. Later that night, he was in his yard when he was hit by lightning.
Isles is a storm spotter for the National Weather Service and was on his ham radio at the time.
"They say I will have some things with my memory that may bother me for a while," Bill Isles said. "But I wasn't burned. I had a little bit of an irregular heart beat."
The odds of being hit by lightning are one in 835,000. The odds of winning the Mega Millions lottery jackpot are one in 175 million.
