Mother forgives shooter who killed her teen daughter

Posted: Updated:

The mother of a young shooting victim says she forgives the person who shot her daughter.

Sixteen-year-old Jalisa Reed was shot outside a Kansas City, MO, apartment Friday night while visiting with family.

With her were several family members, including her twin brother.

Reed's family says the shooter is a man who had gotten into an argument with the girl earlier in the evening. They say that man followed Reed to the apartment and opened fire, killing Reed and wounding another young woman.

Despite dealing with unimaginable grief, Reed's mother says she feels strong and at peace.

"I feel bad that the young man did it, that he (shot) my daughter ... but I don't wish no hate to him ... I am kind of blank about it," said  Nicki Reed, the victim's mother.

Reed went to Schagle High School in Kansas City, KS. School officials say they will have grief counselors on hand Monday for students.

If anyone has any information on who shot Reed and another young woman, they are asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
