KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A white man said he was beaten by a group of African-American youths who used racially derogatory terms during the assault.

Kansas City Police said the 50-year-old man suffered a fractured hip and other injures. An officer found the man lying in the road at 67th Street and Prospect Avenue about 10:40 p.m. Thursday.

The man told police that he was walking home from the store when a group of six youths approached him. He said the youth asked for directions but that encounter quickly turned violent.

He said they jumped him and kicked him and punched him. Police said the man was not robbed.

Police saw possible suspects in the area but they successfully ran from officers as they tried to apprehend them.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
