Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and IHOP started the National Pancake Day celebration early with a drive-through pancake breakfast at KU Medical Center from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at KU Medical Center.
Drivers didn't even have to leave their cars to receive a free to-go short stack of IHOP pancakes, but they were encouraged to leave a donation.
Among those helping at Wednesday's event were Miss Metro St. Louis and Phi Delta Epsilon students.
IHOP's National Pancake Day is Feb. 28. On that day the restaurant chain will offer guests a free short stack of its buttermilk pancakes in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Donations raised during National Pancake Day support charities in the communities where the restaurants operate.
National Pancake Day 2011 raised almost $28,000 for KU Medical Center and Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics.
