KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A 17-year-old Kansas City man has been charged with the murder last week of Darrin C. Miller, 53, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced Tuesday.

Christopher Williams faces charges of second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and two count of armed criminal action.

According to court records, Miller's body was found in the street near 31st Street and Indiana Avenue on the evening of Feb. 17 with multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses told police that Miller and Williams had words when Williams pulled a handgun and shot Miller. Williams then began firing at the car Miller had exited.

Miller was heard saying "let me talk to you a minute little homie" before Williams began shooting.

A passenger in the car ducked, then exited the vehicle. The probable cause statement said a witness reported seeing Williams run away after Miller returned fire. The passenger was seen picking up Miller's gun and driving away.

Williams later called for an ambulance to the 3000 block of Askew, near where police found a 9 mm handgun.

Prosecutors recommended a bond of $250,000.
