
Officers on the scene found the burned car with a body inside it and quickly sealed off the area to begin investigating.Police have identified the man who died in a car fire Sunday in what appeared to be a fatal crash.
Authorities received a call around 2 a.m. Sunday on reports of a burned-out car near the Holmes Corporate Center on East 101st Terrace and Holmes Road.
Upon responding, the Kansas City Fire Department reported they found the vehicle occupied by a burned, deceased driver. The driver was Christopher S. Pittman, 24, of Kansas City, MO.
Officers on the scene quickly sealed off the area to begin investigating.
Police said it appeared the vehicle was traveling east near Holmes Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle caught on fire and Pittman was unable to extricate himself.
Pittman, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
