KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Valentine's Day may be for lovers, but some people have a few too many loves in their lives, and the day observed for love is a popular one for getting caught.

That is where private investigators like Ron Rugen come in.

"There's a lot of love out there, sometimes that love goes in tangents that it shouldn't go," said private investigator Ron Rugen.  "It is kind of splitting time and sometimes they're with the people they shouldn't be with."

Rugen has been a private investigator for 18 years, and says it is still difficult when he meets with a client to show them visual proof of an affair.

"It is tough to come back to someone and say you know you are right, your significant other was cheating on you," Rugen said.

But videos and pictures are the best proof. And he has the gear to get it.  He uses cameras that look like an ordinary pen and key ring.

"If they're in a restaurant or bar in a driveway or parking lot or park, there's no reasonable expectation of privacy. So they're fair game for being photographed or video taped," Rugen said.
