Six-month anniversary of Katelyn Markham's disappearance
FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - Six months ago Katelyn Markham disappeared from her Fairfield town home and there are still no major breaks in the case.
"The conversations that John and I have is that there is hope she is somewhere," said Karen Winkler, mother of John Carter, Katelyn's fiance. "Sometimes I say it's a fantasy world but I think she is going to come home safe."
Winkler says her son, who was the last known person to see Katelyn, wants answers like everyone else.
"He has a hard time going out to the grocery store because he thinks people are staring at him, wondering what is going on," said Winkler. "A lot of comments that have been posted on Facebook have been very difficult on him."
Over the past six months hundreds of volunteers have conducted dozens of searches, but still no signs of Katelyn.
Fairfield police are following up on any possible leads, but those who love Katelyn hope the new cash reward entices a specific group of others to get involved with the search.
"I hope there is private detectives out there who say I am going to do whatever I can to get that $50,000 because I think private investigators can do a lot more than police officers can," said Winkler.
