FAIRWAY, KS (KCTV) -

Cold weather and snow meant messy roads all over the metro Monday morning.

A semi-trailer rolled over on U.S. Highway 40 near Blue Ridge Road in Independence. The Yellow Freight truck hit another car, demolishing the back end.

Emergency crews took two people to the hospital.

In the Northland, a car went off the road on Hwy. 169 northbound just before Richards Road.  The driver ended up on the railroad tracks around 4 a.m. No one was injured there.

And just before 6 a.m. in Olathe, a pickup lost control and slammed into a light pole near Kansas City and Renner roads.

Moments later, at about 6:30 a.m., a vehicle slid off of westbound Interstate 70 near I-435.

Another crash had traffic tied up just after 7:30 a.m. at Hwy. 71 near Red Bridge Road in Kansas City.

Police across the metro also reported numerous fender benders caused by slick roads.

However, cars were not the only vehicles struggling this morning.

About a third of all metro buses were delayed Monday morning because of traffic and slick roads.  Many of them were running 15 minutes behind or more.

Most are back running on schedule now.

A tow truck even had to help pull a school bus out near 51st Street and Garfield Avenue in Kansas City, KS.  The bus got stuck while running a route about 8 a.m.

No students were injured.

Nearly 200 school districts, colleges, churches in the area are closed Monday because of the snow.

Kansas City and North Kansas City, Blue Springs, Independence and Park Hill districts all closed.

Many school districts on the Kansas side did not close for the day.
