Deputies raid Platte City home for meth

PLATTE CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Deputies and firefighters raided a home in Platte City they said was being used to make meth.

Five agencies were on the scene of the raid Thursday night where investigators said they found chemicals used in a crude form of meth called "shake and bake."

Officers and deputies with the Platte County drug task force swarmed a house at the intersection of Third and Vine Street, pulling out containers of toxic chemicals associated with meth production.

Friday, the Platte County Prosecutor said Michael Rector and Stan Dalton are both charged with trafficking methamphetamine. Robin Whitaker is charged with meth possession.

"We've already cleared the house. Air quality tests have been done and there were no hazards to officers on the scene or neighbors in the surrounding areas," said Captain Erik Holland with the Platte County Sheriff's Office Thursday.

Evelyn Wright who has been taking care of her sick sister for three weeks noticed a flurry across the street and suspicious behavior by the occupants.

"They drop off a couple and then they leave in the truck and come back later. And that light stays on all day," she said.

Ironically, the raid happened just down the street from the Platte County jail where the suspected meth makers spent the night. That is an added comfort to neighbors.

"I felt like they had it under control and they weren't going to let anything happen to us," Wright said.

Firefighters also were on scene just in case there was an explosion.

Thursday's was the third search warrant executed in Platte County in the last 48 hours.
