Miami County middle school students are in some big trouble for what police say they found on them at school.
After police took three Paola Middle School students into custody for possession of marijuana and pills, the school district is emphasizing student safety.
School resource officer Adam Hale was busy last week.
According to police reports, one student possessed marijuana and a green bottle with 21 pills. A second student was in possession of opiates and a controlled substance and a third student had a wood box listed as drug paraphernalia.
The Paola School District superintendent could not answer questions about the incident because the students are underage.
"Every school's priority is to make sure its schools are safe, make sure that we consistently work with kids to make healthy related choices." said superintendent Judy Welter.
The district also could not comment on discipline for those students, but the Paola Middle School student handbook says students could face suspension or expulsion for drug possession.
