Missouri win essentially bought Santorum bragging rights

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

Rick Santorum is celebrating a three-state sweep Wednesday morning.

The Republican won primaries in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado.

It might have been a seemingly exciting night for former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum after winning the Republican presidential primaries in Missouri Tuesday night, but it means very little in the big picture.

Santorum was the lone Republican candidate campaigning in Missouri's primary this month.

It was a non-binding primary, meaning he will win no delegates for the victory.

Nevertheless, Santorum claimed momentum in his race against Mitt Romney after also winning in Minnesota's caucuses Tuesday night.

Santorum won the Show Me state with 52 percent of the votes

Newt Gingrich was not on the ballot because he missed the deadline to enter in Missouri.

"We are not done yet with you here in Missouri… you've got a caucus coming up next month… go out and pledge… not your lives, maybe your fortune," Santorum said.

A mid-March caucus in Missouri will be the deciding factor in awarding delegates for the national convention.
