
The overnight freeze made for a difficult drive Sunday morning.
Merriam police shut down the on ramp from southbound Interstate 35 to 75th Street early Sunday morning due to ice.
Officers were even forced to call in Kansas Department of Transportation crews to help with the efforts.
The ramp reopened about 7:30 a.m. and things are now back to normal in the area.
Kansas Highway Patrol troopers said at least seven cars were involved in a pileup accident on I-70 near mile marker 215 in Leavenworth County.
Luckily no major injuries were reported and everything in the area is now back to normal.
Several drivers also slid off the road before daylight hours on eastbound I-435 and Lackman Road in Lenexa. Police said there were no reports of any injuries in the area.
