Family escapes flames of 2-alarm fire

SHAWNEE, KS (KCTV) -

A two-alarm fire in Shawnee is under investigation after a family had to escape the flames.

The fire broke out about 1:30 a.m. Sunday on the deck of a home near the intersection of Widmer Street and West 58th Terrace.

When crews arrived, heavy flames could be seen coming from the back of the house.

A person who lives in the home suffered slight burns to their hands and was treated at the scene.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
