Storms with thunder and lightning swept across the Kansas City area Friday morning.
The entire area was receiving rain by 7 a.m. Friday. The storms were not severe but producing heavy rains.
Some isolated areas could see almost four inches of rain but significant flooding is not expected because of the lack of moisture this winter.
The rain will slow down the morning commute so allow yourself extra time while driving this morning.
The rain will then transition to a wintry mix over the weekend.
