DICKSON, TN (WSMV) -

Dickson firefighters said workers at the Nemak USA plant helped stop a chemical fire from spreading late Wednesday night.

The fire began around 11:30 p.m. in an aluminum furnace at the Old Columbia Road facility.

Once the aluminum became molten, firefighters had to use a chemical called Chemdry to extinguish the fire.

At one point, they ran out of the chemical and had to call for more.

Firefighters say there were about 100 workers in the plant when the fire began and they helped contain it and limited damage to the plant.

Once the fire was out, employees were able to return to work.
