The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the Kansas City metro.
A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. The red flag warning is in effect from noon until 6 p.m. Monday.
Sustained southwest winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts possibly exceeding 30 mph, coupled with temperatures in the 60s and low humidity will create ideal fire weather conditions, the National Weather Service said.
Any fires that happen could spread rapidly.
