Girl says 2 men kidnapped her, blindfolded her

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The family of a girl who disappeared from her south Kansas City home are relieved she is doing OK, but many questions remain about what happened to the girl.

The 11-year-old girl told police that two men blindfolded her and kidnapped her from her home on Thursday while her mother was at work.

The girl was found about 3 a.m. Friday when police, acting on a tip, went to an apartment about a mile from the girl's home. The apartment was the home of a 20-year-old man.

A friend had told the family that the girl had said she was going to the movies and had been having an inappropriate relationship with the 20-year-old man.

Inside the apartment at 9520 Drury, police found the girl lying on the floor. She was complaining of leg pain and that a man had touched her inappropriately.

Police took a man into custody for questioning but no charges have been filed.

Kiesha Buie, the girl's aunt, said the main concern is that the girl is OK.

"My niece is alive," she said.

But she admits she is confused because the door was locked, so someone would have needed to have access to the home.

"Somebody had to come inside to get her because my door was locked," she said. "That's where everything's not making sense to me at all."

KCTV5 previously identified the girl when police asked the media to notify the public about her disappearance. Because of the allegations that she was sexually assaulted, KCTV5 is no longer using the girl's name or picture.
