Free food, free drinks and football in Lee's Summit

LEE'S SUMMIT, MO (KCTV) -

Free food, free drinks and football. It sounds like the trifecta.

The owner of Minsky's in Lee's Summit decided to capitalize on Tim Tebow fever and said if the Denver Broncos beat the Steelers, he would pay everyone's tab.

He kept his word.

While the big overtime play Sunday night may have broken a lot of hearts in the Kansas City area, football fans enjoying the big game at Minsky's in Lee's Summit couldn't help but celebrate.

"We had a deal... the entire tab was paid for and they got $20 cash just for showing up and watching the game," Lee's Summit Minsky's owner Steve Parker said.

And show up they did.

Parker says the bar was packed with hungry and thirsty football fans.

It cost Parker $820 to fulfil his promise, but he says it was well worth it.

"We do it to create a fun atmosphere, and to put Minsky's and Lee's Summit on the map," Parker said.

And don't worry. If anyone missed out on their chance to eat and drink for free, Parker is already planning another big promotion for the Broncos-Patriots game.

The first 50 people that get to the pizza restaurant before kickoff are eligible for a $50 cash reward if the Broncos win. The first 10 people also eligible for 52 free large pizzas.

It might be just enough to convince some diehard Chiefs fans to root for the rival Broncos for once.

Parker also says he does this promotion whenever the Lakers and Celtics play.
