Heading to the Plaza Lighting? Take the bus!

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

The Metro's Main Street MAX bus rapid transit line will offer more frequent service for the Plaza Lighting Ceremony on Thanksgiving, the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority said Monday.

From 4 to 11 p.m., MAX Orange Line buses will operate about every 15 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes.

Buses will run on a 15-minute frequency:

  • Begin from 74th Terrace and Broadway at 4:05p.m.
  • Begin from Third Street and Grand Boulevard Park-and-Ride at 3:50 p.m.
  •  Last northbound bus leaves the Plaza (47th and Main streets when Plaza MAX stop is closed due to traffic) at 11:02 p.m.
  • Last southbound bus leaves the Plaza (47th and Main streets when Plaza MAX stop is closed due to traffic) at 11:27 p.m.

Throughout the rest of the day, MAX will operate its holiday schedule, which is every 30 minutes.

The last regularly scheduled northbound bus leaves the Plaza at 12:17 a.m. and the last regularly scheduled southbound bus leaves the Plaza at 11:42 p.m.

All other Metro routes will operate Sunday/Holiday schedules on Thanksgiving.
